Get involved at Fcc

God calls us to serve Him

Jesus gave us the example of being a servant and He wants us to follow Him.

Mark 10:45. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

1 Peter 2:21. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

Every single Christian can and should serve at their local church.

Ephesians 4:16 (Christ) – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

On this page, you will find opportunities where you can serve at Faith Community Church and who to contact for them. You can contact these people through the form at the bottom of the page, or through the Church Directory.

Worship Team

Contact: Blake Witman
At FCC we believe that biblical worship is the outpouring of our affections for God that are to be offered individually and corporately in spirit and in truth as the reasonable response for Who God is and what He has done. The musical elements of our service seek to engage each participant in true worship and stir the affections of the heart so that the declaration of God’s Word is received as a seed in “good soil” which will in turn lead to a proper response. Worship elements that are participatory for the entire congregation (such as congregational singing) may be favored over those that are more passive (such as special music). Special music will be used when it is deemed to enhance the purpose of the gathering explained above, keeping in mind the subject of the song, appropriate musical style, and quality of the presentation. If you are interested in serving the gathered body here at FCC with your gifting, please let us know!

Christmas and Easter Choir

Contact: Trisha Baron
Every year FCC choir sings at the Easter and Christmas services. Preparation includes learning the songs at home and participating in about 4-5 choir practice sessions.

Live Streamer

Contact: Gerrit Kamp
Description: We stream each of our weekly worship services live on the internet. We currently have a team of 4 streamers but we are looking for some more. The role requires a decent understanding of how website and audio and video technologies work, but prior live streaming experience is not needed. We will teach you all you need to know. You would be streaming about once every 5 or 6 weeks. Being a regular attendee at FCC is required but you do not need to be a member. While you stream, you will not be interacting much with other people, except when things go wrong. Then you need to be able to think quickly to problem-solve, because on any given Sunday about 25-30 are watching the service online. Having a passion for details and for providing people with quality audio/video experiences, and having a heart for ministry are all welcome traits.

Audio/Video/Lighting

Contact: Aaron Schiffman
Providing proper lighting and sound mix for our Sunday services, weddings, funerals and special events. This role requires extensive knowledge and understanding of audio, video, and lighting, and most people are trained first at the youth group.

Greeters/Welcome Desk

Contact: Angela Henderson
To provide a warm, caring welcome to those who are visitors to FCC or who need information regarding specific ministries at our church. This is accomplished by providing official greeters in the Worship Center during worship services. Also, greeters will be available to escort and direct guests to various locations on the church campus.

Coffee Server

Contact: Angela Henderson
To promote fellowship by serving coffee and juice after church.

Ushers

Contact: Angela Henderson
Ushers welcome people in the sanctuary and help them find a place to sit and get seated. An attitude the usher demonstrates in the foyer and back of the church is a forerunner of the ministry to be experienced in the Worship Center. At FCC there are certain characteristics that we look for in a good usher. First, they must be filled with the Holy Spirit, loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, gentle, full of humor, goodness, faithful each week, resourceful, prompt, and be an ambassador of kindness.

Senior Adult Ministries

Contact: Shawn Clarke
Today in America, there are more people over age 60 than under the age 18. And these senior adults are some of the most receptive people in any community. Senior Adult Ministries provides many opportunities of Christian service and meet periodically for special events. Service, ministry activities and special trips are planned throughout the year. Hymn Sing is one of the popular event series throughout the year.

Men’s Bible Study Facilitator

Contact: Dan Gross
Leading or co-leading a Men’s Bible Study such as the Men’s Wednesday evening Bible study. The bible study leader must be a member at FCC. Typical duties include preparation in advance for the Wednesday night study, facilitating the group discussion and being consistently prepared and ready to “fill in the blanks” if folks struggle with input. The study meets 6:30-8:15pm on Wed from mid-September through mid-December for the fall session and early January through late April for the spring session. Typical duties would also include coming up with a study for the next season. Oversight for this position will typically be by the Men’s committee.

Men’s Committee Participant

Contact: Dan Gross
Involves helping out with coordinating the Men’s Activities at FCC(Our committee currently consists of six members). Participate/help out w/ the Men’s Breakfasts by helping with cooking and/or discussion facilitating, depending on your talents and desires. Men’s breakfasts meet on the first Saturday of October through the first Saturday of May. Committee membership also consists of participating in group discussions on activities, Men’s Advance preparations and facilitating, and Men’s Ministry promotions. It also involves occasionally helping out with cooking or serving needs around the church for various activities. This role is typically an invited participant, but we are always open to men with hearts & a passion for this ministry. We would like to have some “younger blood” in our committee, since a number of us are getting to the retirement age and not consistently around during the winter months when our committee is the busiest.

Young Adults

Contact: Gerrit and Elaine Kamp, Liam and Faith Swedberg
The goal for the Young Adults group at FCC is to make disciples by equipping, loving and challenging young adults to a deeper commitment and spiritual reproduction. This is accomplished through weekly Sunday evening gatherings and activities specifically focusing on their needs and interests. The need is for mature Christians to help with teaching, mentoring, and providing ideas for different ministries.

Youth Leader

Contact: Lane Garcia
We have an amazing team of leaders who help disciple and mentor the youth of our church. If you have a passion for serving students and walking alongside them in their faith, this could be a great place for you to get involved! Church membership is preferred.

Children’s Greeting Team

Contact: Melany Moyer, Sondra Church
When scheduled, be in the foyer before the church service. Greet each person who is new, making them welcome and loved, asking them to fill out our card with all the pertinent information of their child and themselves, with address, grade, etc. If they want their kid in the nursery or Sunday school, help them sign in.
After the service look for them and try to introduce them to Pastor Shawn, or some other people who would be friendly and welcoming.
Follow up with a card or email or text message or phone call, welcoming them and their child or children, usually explaining our programs, such as Awana, Sunday School, or Bible studies for adults. Mostly it is personal, telling them how happy they came. Sent with Love!

A ministry that supports the music department and tells the Gospel message through skits, plays and many other creative ways in order to present the Good News.

Awana Game Director

Contact: Gerrit and Elaine Kamp
28 weeks every Awana year. Although it’s better that the game director actually leads the games for Awana, it’s not necessary if the director actually assigns the games to different leaders who then lead the games. Plan out the games for T&T, Sparks and Cubbies. Manage volunteer game leaders. Train with Elaine Kamp

Awana Greeter

Contact: Gerrit and Elaine Kamp
Greet children as they come into the building. Answer questions and direct new people to the commanders or secretaries. When new parents show, direct them to get signed in, and offer to take them on a tour of the church (after the greeting is over at 6:30) and talk about Awana to them.

Awana Store

Contact: Jana and George Beanblossom
We would love to train up another couple to run the store for a number of nights per year, when the Beanblossoms aren’t available. This job entails showing up before 8:15 pm and setting up the store and staying until 8:45 pm to put all items back into the bins at the end of the night. This is on an as-needed basis.

Awana Leader

Contact: Gerrit and Elaine Kamp
From September through April, lead a team of Cubbies, Sparks, or T&T kids every Wednesday from 6:30pm-8:15pm. For Sparks and T&T, lead them during small group time (30 minutes), teaching them the material, direct them to the listeners for verse memorization, and pray with them. During game time, be present to help and oversee your team. During large group time, be with your group. Be willing to help clean up afterwards (put tables and chairs in the sanctuary and education building back, clean tables in Cubbies room).

Awana Listener

Contact: Gerrit and Elaine Kamp
From September through April, show up on Wednesday evening from 6:45-7:45 to listen to the verses that the Sparks and T&T kids have memorized. In addition to listening, the listeners are also encouraged to engage with the kids about what the verse they memorized actually means. The group of listeners typically consists of grandparents and their peers, and is a great opportunity to invest in the lives of the next generation of disciples.

Life Groups

Contact: Aaron Schiffman, Angela Henderson
A ministry of outreach to the church in homes with 8 – 10 individuals. Life group leaders are responsible for facilitating sermon based or book-based lessons. Everyone is encouraged to join a life group where they can fellowship with others while growing in their walk with the Lord.

Hymn Sing

Contact: Shawn Clarke

Missions Committee

Contact: Joel Rinehart
The missions committee selects the missionaries that FCC supports, educates the congregation about the missionaries that are supported and their activities and prayer requests, cares for and communicates with the missionaries, prepares the missionary budget, and plans the missions emphasis month, as well as the missionary of the month. Members attend the monthly meeting, maintain a regular prayer life and Bible study, pray for the missionaries on a regular basis and communicate with them.

Missions Work Team

Contact: Joel Rinehart
Provides opportunity for members of FCC to participate in short-term missionary work. Missions Work Teams provide encouragement and support to our missionaries in the field. Medical, clerical, teaching, evangelism, technical and construction are some of the ways that team members help.

Playground Committee

Contact: Melissa Tabert, Elaine Kamp
The FCC playground provides a vital and safe environment for our kids to play and for their parents to connect. The playground committee seeks to improve the functionality and safety of our playground, as well as its seating area. The committee manages the budget and organizes fund-raising events on a needs basis.

Building Committee

Contact: Ryan and Wendy Heerspink, Suzanne Clarke
The building committee, together with the deacons, maintains and improves the various buildings on our campus. A current focus project is the sanctuary upgrade.

Special Events Team

Contact: Angela Henderson, Naomi Cullup
FCC has frequent special events, which include breakfast before church, or lunch after church, or things like Soup and Carols nights. Helping in special events is a good fit both for someone who has had waitressing or foodservice experience, and those who want to learn those basic skills by helping at church. There is a lot of set-up and then bussing and clean-up. It’s fairly simple repetitive tasks for the most part. Anyone who wanted to volunteer to cook at any special events would need to shadow an experienced volunteer at an event before cooking on their own for future events.

Social Media Team

Contact: Katie Snyder, Kelly de Boer, Gerrit Kamp
The social media team ensures an active and engaging online presence for FCC, using Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and others. At minimum we aim to share the weekly sermon video, Pastor Shawn’s Weekend Update, and announcements of special events. The team is looking for somewhat tech savvy and somewhat creative team members to do the postings, seeking input from FCC staff and volunteers, ensuring online posts are inline with the social media policies of FCC.

Flower / Landscaping Team

Contact: Angela Henderson, Arnie Blankers, Doug Meek
Provides flower arrangements in the Worship Center and foyer each Sunday for the worship services and other special times of the year. Also provides support with outdoor landscaping needs. In the fall after the majority of the leaves have fallen, the team will be working to blow leaves off the parking lots and sports court to get ready for winter. Coming into winter, there would be a possibility of a need to shovel snow off of sidewalks. Spring cleanup is generally a couple weeks before Easter and involves general cleanup of the lawns and gardens, and parking lots.

Prayer Chain

Contact: Angela Henderson, Gerrit Kamp
As the church is made aware of special needs for prayer, these needs are e-mailed to the FCC Members that are on the prayer chain. This prayer chain enables many people in the church body to be praying together within a short time.

Church Bus / Van Drivers

Contact: Martin Verbree
Involves driving the bus and van to various places for the edification of the body of Christ. The need is for licensed bus drivers or 25 years of age or older individuals, who have the ability and are available to drive our vehicles.

Meals in Time of Need

Contact: Kristi Grande
A ministry to assist people with meals when going through hard times, illnesses, or welcoming a new baby.

Security Team

Contact: Jim Henderson
Each Sunday we have designated people responsible for the health and safety of our congregation. They are a presence around the campus during all Sunday activities. They walk around the campus – sanctuary, gym, children’s ministry hallway etc. They also have access to the cameras located around the campus.

Wedding / Funeral Support

Contact: Angela Henderson
The wedding and/or funeral support people are responsible for the Weddings and Funerals in the church. The wedding host is responsible for interviewing couples, answering questions, giving guidance, scheduling facilities, planning the rehearsal, and doing many other things in the pre-wedding weeks that save our pastors many hours of work. The wedding/funeral receptionists are responsible for the serving of refreshments, clean-up of the reception area and the kitchen.
