I’m honored and blessed to have been called into ministry, by the grace of God, to FCC since 2015! I’m married to my best friend Gabriela and have three beautiful children that always keep me on my toes. Never a dull moment in the Martinez household.
Born in California and raised in Lynden, my roots go deep here, and I have a great love the PNW. My passions in ministry are pointing people to Jesus as their only source of hope and salvation – especially youth! Teenage years can be hard for both parents and students alike, my job is to walk alongside both and help them “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” Psalm 34:8. I love to help Christians know why they believe what they believe and share the good news of the gospel with them! My ministry philosophy is Love God, Love People.
Outside of church I enjoy spending time with my family going on walks, going out to eat, watching movies, playing chess and other board games, reading books, helping in the community, making YouTube videos, listening to music, and longboarding. I love studying scripture and helping explain complex ideas and meanings into simple and easy language people can understand. I graduated from Trinity Western University with my degree in Psychology and Human Services (Fun fact: I’m an INFP and my wife is an ESTJ so just goes to show you that opposites can and do attract each other) and I’m currently pursuing my Masters in Christian Apologetics from Talbot School of Theology at Biola.
I’m always available to chat if you have questions about the ministry or your faith in general. To conclude I’ll leave you with these three verses that have really ministered to me over the years:
“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
“…Sirs what must I do to be saved? So they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” (Acts 16:30-32)
